Robert McMurray
MD, FACS, RPVI
Dr. Robert McMurray is a board-certified vascular surgeon dedicated to providing advanced, minimally invasive treatments that help patients restore healthy circulation, heal complex wounds, and avoid amputation. Known for his precision, compassion, and patient-centered care, Dr. McMurray brings world-class vascular expertise to communities across Hawai‘i.
Dr. McMurray serves as Chief of Surgical Subspecialty Services and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in Honolulu. He also provides vascular care at Pali Momi Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, and Maui Memorial Medical Center. His mission is to expand access to high-quality vascular care throughout the islands.
After earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. McMurray completed his General Surgery Residency and Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Tripler Army Medical Center and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He has served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, including a deployment to Iraq, where he provided surgical care to service members and civilians.
Dr. McMurray is board-certified in both Vascular Surgery and General Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). He has authored chapters in leading surgical textbooks, including Rutherford’s Vascular Surgery and Atlas of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, and his research has been featured in several peer-reviewed medical journals. His academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences reflects his ongoing commitment to surgical education and mentorship.

Dr. McMurray’s practice covers a full range of vascular and endovascular care, including peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, venous insufficiency, dialysis access, and diabetic limb preservation. His approach combines cutting-edge technology with personalized care — ensuring each patient receives the safest, least invasive, and most effective treatment possible.
Outside the operating room, Dr. McMurray enjoys family time, mentoring young physicians, and supporting efforts to improve vascular health access for patients across Hawai‘i.
